I assume the adobe photoshop home edition is very similar. Anyway my question is how do I change the background to a different solid color other than white. I have a logo and it allways comes on a little square so I need to be able to outline the logo and change the background color so it will blend with my page, How can I do this? I did it before but can't remember how! I thought I wrote it down but I can't find it! Can somebody please Help me!

hi there, im not too up on Photoshop Home but i assume its got more support for web publishing. The way i would solve the 'white box' problem would be in one of two ways. If your logo has clean edges you could cut and paste it onto a transparent background, and then export as a GIF with transparency turned on (Save for Web). Alternatively find out the hex code of your page background colour from your web layout program (should be something like #333FF) and fill the background to your logo with the exact same colour (in the colour screen theres a space provided for the hex code). This should sort your problem.
If you still have trouble matching the colours exactly, fill the background of your logo with the colour you would like the background of your page to be. Then take a 1X1 pixel section of this colour and save it as a gif/jpg. Then instead of setting a background colour on your page, simply select this file as a background image and it should tile to fill the whole page with the colour. Hopefully it will match exactly with the background colour of your logo.

Hope this helps! Nick Price

sorry im might have misunderstood your question- do you just want to know how to change the colour within photoshop? This is easy, just use any of the selection tools to draw around your logo and select 'copy'. Open a new document, selecting the background colour you want from the options. The new document should be exactly the right size to house your logo. Simply paste your logo into the new document. If the background colour is still not right you can change it to your hearts content without bothering your logo as it is now on a different layer. Hope this helps!

Thanks
I found out I simply had to trace the logo then get the right color swatch then choose gradient fill then choose background this worked perfectly in photoshop
