I have a middle school computer lab with win2k installation using GP which does a My Doc redirect to a network folder and logon script mapping a network drive. Application data was orignally redirected as well as shared Start Menu (since removed). Installation worked great for about a month. Then many problems: folders wouldn't redirect, explore.exe crashes to name a few.
Event log showing permissions errors to folders. Sometimes My Doc would redirect and not my Pictures. Log also showed registry not being able to upload.
I have an identical installation in another lab that works flawlessly. The only difference I can pinpoint is the installation of Adobe Illustrator 9.0 after the first month or so. Not sure of exact date. Removed Illustrator from one machine and seems to work fine, however, since problems have compounded overtime machine is not completely "clean".
I have not found any indication of Illustrator problems noted by MS and Adobe, although I have found some reference to Illustrator problems in beta version of Win2k.
Instructor notes that when Illustrator files are opened by selecting them explorer crashes. If opened from application no crash. I plan to remove Illustrator from all machines, however, I'm curious to know more about the problem.
Could there be a problem in Illustraor code that is messing with win2k in this network config?
Ideas..
Thanks
