ADO replacement for TransferSpreadsheet

According to this site, it appears that TransferSpreadsheet is meant for earlier versions of Access, and hangs around for the sake of compatability. I'm using Access XP, and am learning ADO. How would one replace TransferSpreadsheet with ADO? TIA.
 
Since Excel still 'hangs around', and it is still made of spreadsheets, TransferSpreadsheet is still useful (IMO).

Replacing it means Automation with Excel, open the workbook, open the worksheet, see what's the UsedRange, get each cell in a table field...

99.99% of the cases it's not worth the trouble.

But that's only my opinion...
