I have a finished application that was written in VB 6.0 sp2, ADO 2.7, Crystal Reports 8.0. It will not connect to the ODBC link when it has been installed on a client computer. The program works on an Admin computer with all the developement software installed but not on any other computer? the ODBC links have been setup and i have triple checked the SQL security for loggin in to SQL 2000. The program will load after it has been installed but will not query the Database and display any information. I have a combo box that lists a certain criteria on boot. nothing is in it. There is info in the DB tables though.
any ideas will be appreciated!
Thanks
JT

What is your error. What error does it return?

Did you use the package and deployment wizard (or another setup program) to ensure that all required files (.dll's, .ocx's, etc.) are copied and registered on the target computer. The exe is not enough. VB requires some additional runtime files itself.

If you have used a setup program then double check to see that all files were installed on the target.

Thanks and Good Luck!

It was the MDAC! Just for the hell of it i went on microsofts website and downloaded the newest one and installed it. I thought it added it to it. It even sais on the install... "Installing MDAC" i guess not. I am using the Package and Deployment wizard to do this.

Thanks for the help

It may have installed the wrong version of MDAC. Check in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\VB98\Wizards\PDWizard\Redist to see which version of MDAC the PDW is using to install on the target. If it is not the one your app is using then rename the exiting one and paste a copy of 2.7 in that folder.

Thanks and Good Luck!
