Hi Guys,

I have a bit of a dilema on my hands. I work as an IT Manager in a School. I have a user who keeps on pesting me that he needs admin rights. I have given him local admin rights but this is still not sufficent for him. I am getting really annoyed now as this bugs me. He wanted domain admin rights which I put my foot down on straight away and said NO. Then I gave him local power user rights but still he was not happy. Then I gave him Local admin rights which I don't even want to give him but I can't come up with a reason why I shouldn't. So in those books of excuses out there have you got any good ones?

Cheers

I think your getting some good feed back on this. My question to you with regard to all of this is this --- Why do you have an end user installing this software on his/her own system? With the security rights you appear to have established wouldn't it be better if you installed it for him/her?

Based on what tfg13 has said, it appears the user is not comfortable with the install process of the software itself and that is why this has become such a pain in the butt process. another question I have is if this person is having trouble loading the software correctly now, how much time are you going to have to spend helping troubleshoot it without having ever been involved in the install process.

Hats off to all of you on your posts I would consider them all to be very good advise.

Well thank you everybody on all your responses they have all been noted.

What I will say though in response to the last post is that now I only gave him the ability to install software due to the fact he went screaming to my boss when I took over saying he can't do anything. At the time I was so snowed under working from 8 till 12 at night on most days getting the system up and running. Therefore I gave him the ability to install stuff. Now he has taken advantage of this and he's installing software left right and centre and started to complain that his P4 3Ghz had started to go slow????

I think that the best thing is to give him a local profile and if he starts to complain then tough.

I will carry out the required in the GP Console and let you all know how it went.
