Hi people,

me again!

I have started 2 threads before about the about before

now Part 3.

After a long meeting yesterday with my boss and the head of IT I got to the following.

He is allowed to have a domain admin account and he is able to install software on other users machines.

I made my point pretty clear that if a problem was to occur then I would only work my normal hours mon - fri. I am in the middle of writing a letter to my boss to get all of the above clear and was wondering if there was anything that I could add to the arguement.

The letter is

Boss,

As per our meeting yesterday with yourself and User x, This is to make the following clear in writing.

User x will have a domain admin user account with no restrictions and he will also be able to install software for other users.

If there is a software licence issue that occurs due to an install that User x has carried out, I will take no responsibility on behalf of the school as I will have not authorised the software to go on the network.

If there is a problem for any reason what so ever, then I will only be carrying out my daily hours of 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.

It's worth mentioning that you cannot be held responsible for the security and reliability of your network if you have a rogue user that you consider incompetent with domain administrator rights. This really goes against all currently accepted best practices and is quite frankly ridiculous.

It might be worth posting this in the forum below.

Oh and another thing while you are looking for another job :)

I would document carefully all changes that you carry out from now on (not suggesting that you don't already) and while doing it keep in mind that this might be needed for more than just trouble shooting when the inevitable happens.

Alt suggest that the school has a second headteacher that doesn't really need to be qualified to do the job, then put yourself forward for the job :)

Sorry to make fun of your situe but it seemed such a fitting point.
