I am attempting to create an auto run CD that will launch an exe, which will install a software illustration for various users on our network. My problem is that our company has removed the installation capabilities on the network. Only those with administrative rights may download. Because this is a high demand software i (along with networking approval) would like to set up something with in the CD that will log-on to the network (with administrative rights), launch the installation, and log-off. Is this possible?

You could either write a log on script to install the software automatically which proper credentials or; Create a new user ie InstallSupport with a password send the CD out to users and get them to contact you.

WHen they insert the CD, browse to the Setup.exe, get them to hold down "SHIFT" right click it and use "Run As" enter the new account and domain into this.

Once install is complete change the InstallSupport user's password or even better disable it.

Not an ideal solution but it may help.

Spirit,

Thanks for you helpful input. I have already asked my networking department to create a separate user for installation purposes... BUT to my dismay they rather not. Honestly, i believe that is the easiest way, but what can i say. Thank you very much.
