Anybody else have the same problem? Also, can't get SP3 to deploy through Gp once i move the computer to its proper OU after RIS install.

Any suggestions appreciated!

You installed RIS on the server and the Admin Tools was deleted?

Also, why not slipstream SP3 into your ris image so it is deployed already installed?

When i install a workstation from an RIS Server after the install the workstation's Admin tools folder is Empty. Strange!!

Also, i guess i should slipstream SP3, i just had so many problems with a Dell GX260's Gigabit NIC card, once i figured everything out i really didn't want change anything.

Let me ask you this. If i do slipstream SP3, will the SP3 that is distributed as a GP on a OU reinstall once the computer reboots??

Thanks,
Brad

Well, I have to admit that I too had/still have trouble getting the gigibit to work with RIS. Very frustrating so your arguement is valid and I support it. I must have spent 4 days working on it only to give it up...

The problem with SP3 is that it is an .exe file and you need an .msi format to preform this install using a gpo.

Yes, I beleive the service pack will install, or attempt an install and return an error stating that SP3 is already installed.

Out of interest, what did you attempt in trying to get the gigabit and RIS to work.

Not sure about the Admin tools...still looking into that one...

Your probably going to kick yourself, i know i did. Go to Intel's website and download their driver for it, which is the newest driver! For somereason Dell does not have the most current drivers on their site.

Go to microsoft's website and view article Q315074 and Q246184. They should shed light on how to place an $oem$ folder under the main image and the rip image. And vwalla!

Let me know if you have any other problems. I am putting together a document for the install of that PC for our records.

Unfortunately I did all of the above. Created the $OEM$ even used the $1 created driver folders and so on...even modified the answer file, grabbed the new driver and still the same error. I found though that with the 3Com cards it wan't an issue, strange enough.

Maybe I will revisit the issue seeing as you got it to work. I probably did miss something.
