I've just installed a fresh copy of Win2k and added all the latest updates, but when i logon as an Administrator it tells me i don't have the rights to install drivers.

It is part of a domain and there is a restricted groups policy in effect but non of the other PC's in this OU are doing this. I have checked in local users and groups and the admin user is the Administrators group.

Any ideas?

Cheers.

Ok i lied it seems to be happening in many OU's since we used a restricted groups policy to control membership of the local administrators group.

I specified that Domain Admins should be a member of the local administrators group, should i have any other users or groups in there?

The Administrator user seems to still be in there.

Cheers.

Not to worry all sorted it was just coincidence. We enabled a policy a week or so ago to allow domain users to install device drivers eg USB drives, i didn't realise that once this was enabled then all groups that require this right had to be specified inc domain admins.
