Hello, I currently have an MSI motherboard with a 150G Sata drive. I purchased a 300G drive and want to install it as an additional drive. After I copnnect the additional drave to the controller and turn the machine on I get through bios and to the XP load and then my machine restarts. I don't see the drive in bios...when I remove power from the new drive my machine boots normally...and ideas? Do I need to install another driver? I remember having to hit F6 on install for sata drivers, do I have to do that again for an additional sata drive?

Thanks!

You can look through these to see if there is any help. Your Sata should be recognized by XP, the problem appears to be in the Bios or your hardware setup.

"The drivers I'm talking about have nothing to do with the brand of SATA hard drive. They're for the controller on the
motherboard. These drivers are available from the computer or motherboard manufacturer. I suspect the OP needs the drivers available from HP through their support site".

I figured out the problem (after about 8 hours of work)...the drive was 300M per second and my motherboard only supported 150 so I had to install the jumper on the drive for it to operate at 150...thanks for the reply though!
