we're running exchange 5.5 & a mix of Outlook2K & 2002.

i've set up a calendar on a 2002 mailbox and shared it with four users [2 on 2002 and 2 on 2k] all permissions were the same on the mailbox and the calendar, but one 2K mailbox cannot see the calendar - i get an "unable to open" message. at first i thought it was compatibility issues, so i moved the calendar to a 2K mailbox and tried from there... but no, that one user still gets the "unable to open" message, bearing in mind that they all have exactly the same permissions i'm totaly confused.

ps. she already has two other additional mailboxes open, if that makes a difference??

im just about to upgrade her to Outlook 2002 and see it that makes a change, but that doesn't really sovle the problem - just pushes it away.

any help on this would be great

thanks... someone once told me to shut up...

I am assuming that she's trying to open the calendar using "File", "Open", "Other Users Folder". If so try these troubleshooting steps.

Check the search order for addresses on her computer under Tools, services, addressing. Make sure that Global address list is listed at the top. If it is not, switch it and then choose file, exit and logoff out of Outlook. Relaunch Outlook and try opening the calendar again.

If addressing is listed correctly and she still has the problem, check to make sure that she does not have a contact entry or a personal address book entry with a name similar to that of what she is trying to open the calendar. If she does have one, have her delete it or rename it to something that does not resemble Global Address list name and then try opening the calendar again.

Lastly, if both of those changes don't work, try changing her calendar permission to "author" on your calendar and have her try opening the calendar again. That permission change used to help us when Outlook 2000 users couldn't open up Outlook 98 user's calendars.

hey becaks, thanks for replying..

i had initially tried to open it using tools/services/advanced...and added the mailbox from there, when that didnt work i tried your method stated, but when you do that it lists only the default folders available in outlook [calendar/inbox/sent items/taks etc] but i had created a new folder called "board room" that held calendar items, there was no option to choose a "man-made" folder...

i also changed her permissions as u said but it still didnt work

...anyway, to cut a long story short i explained i was troubleshooting it, but her, being the directors bit o fluff moaned about how she wanted it now(!!) so i had to upgrade her to Outlook 2002 and hope to god it worked that way, and it did...

i'll keep what u say in mind tho, coz no doubt, it'll appear again, thanks much someone once told me to shut up...
