Hi All,
on my vmware networking I have configured the following hosts:

O(wk1)
|
|
|
(R1) O---------------------O(R2)
| |
| |
| |

R1 and R2 are two router-hosts each with one interface on thesame network of wk1;
Wk1 has been configured with default gateway on R1 and an additional default gateway on R2 - (left the metric field option checked).

Everything is ok, but when R1 newtork is disabled so as to force WK1 to route through R2, the ping command return "a time out error" - the tracert command returns only " ****" even on the first line.

Since this is the first time that I try to configure an additional getaway,I would like to know whether the above configuration is techinically "feaseble";
if so can you help me to have the R2 route when R1 is not working ?
Thanks in advance
Leo

PS:These are the IP configuration of the above Hosts.
Wk1 R1 R2
Ip address :192.168.1.1 192.168.168.100 192.168.1.200
Def. Getaway:192.168.1.100 ************ ***********
Add. Getaway:192.168.1.200 ************ ***********

Microsoft machines only like 1 gateway. No matter how many you list, it will use the first one on the list.

You'll need to setup something like HSRP to get network redundancy. Whereby the two router hosts share a virtual IP that you point the workstation to. That virtual IP can bounce back and forth between router hosts and the workstation will never know it.
