When I attempt to add a Windows 2003 Server to a Windows 2000 Server running Active DIrectory I am successful. The issue is however; when I attempt to log on to the new domain it takes longer than normal(like the server isnt seeing the new domain) and once I do Log On I cannot see the new domain I have just been added to. On the 2003 server, the event viewer application log says that the server could not find or attach to the domain controller. Although I am able to ping the Domain Controller and browse the server.

Anyone see this before?

I then proceeded to remove the 2003 server from the Domain and then re-added the 2003 server back to the Domain. Now I am successful in adding two other 2003 servers to this Domain, and browse the network as well as set permissions according to the new Domain Structure. I am curious as to why this specific server has issues?

What IP do you have configured for primary DNS server on the new DC? Do you have an alternate DNS server configured?

On my DC I have itself as the DNS Server and public DNS addresses as the secondary and tertary (sp).

Because of time contraints I rebuilt the server with W2K3 again with all same settings and there were no issues.

Thanks for everyones input.

Just the same, take out the ISPs DNS addresses from the secondary and tertiary. They should not be configured on any machine on a domain.

Instead you should have those listed on the forwarders tab in DNS.

I just checked that ...I do have it configured that way. Its been a long week. But no need for excuses. Thanks again.
