How do you add sound to a web page? Basically I want a certain song to start playing as soon as the page is opened! I am new to this and have done it easily with some of these other free website builders, but with Dreamweaver they start talking about plugins and activex controls. Now this is fine but I just need someone to guide me in the right direction. Perhaps give me instructions on how to do it, or tell me where (more specifically) to look. I have Dreamweaver 4 and use an MS ME OS! Perhaps someone knows of a tutourial for adding sound somewhere out there! Also I am looking for someone who lives in the Louisville, Ky. area that I can hook up with to help learn more about Dreamweaver 4!
Sincerely,
David Ellenberger

emcinc...Have you considered using Flash just to carry the music? It can be 1 x 1 pixels and transparent but it would hold your mp3 file and start playing as soon as the page loaded. Just an idea. Ya' Gotta Love It!:)X-)

Sounds like a great Idea! So how do I do it? Can You give me instructions on what to do including recording the song or bit of the song? I guess also it would have to be transparent so include that in your instructions too if you can! Thanks for your help and suggestions, I look forward to hearing from you again! Also do you know how I could hook up with someone locally? I guess I should post some kind of memo on a local newsgroup or something, what would you suggest on that? By the way I know you are in Tulsa OK. but how did you get involved with Tek-Tips if you don't mind my asking? Are you a volunteer? Thanks Again! By the way I guess anyone can answer this question as far as I know, Right??? Now getting back to the subject, you have suggested flash to me before. However, it was for a picture. So I assume flash can be used for either audio or video, are you familiar with any site that gives tutourials or instructions on using flash?

They have some awesome tutorials on many software packages including Flash 4 and Flash 5. These are not little small tutorials...they will walk you thru the entire program from start to finish...basic to advanced.

best of all its free!

To answer your other question...Tek-Tips is open to anyone with knowledge in a certain area. Just jump in and start answering questions.

There is a Flash forum that has several very knowledgeable people in there all the time. I frequent the Flash forum myself. I suggest you ask a lot of questions in there and expect a lot of good answers. Ya' Gotta Love It!:)X-)
