Adding Softphone 2050 Licenses

Hi All

We have 10 softphone 2050 licenses running on our licensing server at the min and are looking to add a few more. I believe it's just a case of getting the new license file from our vendor and replacing the current one and then restarting the service?

Is there then any programming required on the CS1000 to recognise the new licenses? We use Phonemaster to manage the system and I'm hoping it's just a case of adding a new Telephone/ Softphone and assigning it to a spare TN. Out vendor will charge us a lot to do the install and unless there some programming required I'd like to avoid that charge.

On the CS1000 call server side I believe as long as you have enough IP licesnses for the new phones, other than adding 2050pc sets to open TNs. You may need to add more Virtual TNs to your system, depending on what you have open...

Yes; you just need the new license file for the server, and then make sure on your SLT you have available IP users. Nothing fancy.

Thanks very much for the information, looks like we have plenty of unused voice units (2050pc TN Virtual) and 5 IP USERS left, do IP users include our desktop VOIP handsets? And if so is adding more a software purchase or an expansion card for the CS1000?

Yes, IP users in SLT include your Desktop IP sets.

If you CS1000 version is still supported, you purchase more IP user licenses from your vendor, you should then get a new keycode for your CS1000 to add the additional users; increasing licenced users does not (usually) require an switch INI.
