Hi, I got a site with SMGR along with two session manager already installed, release is 8.1.
I have been asked to add a third session manager, need some help/advice regarding the 3rd Sm installation sequence.
As i understand i have to install software of SM, then define it in SMGR (entity link/Elements etc..) then after selecting SM i should select ACCEPT NEW SERVICES". It should be up and running after that procedure. Is that the correct sequence??? do i also have to ran initDRS/initTM -f?? wouldn't it effect the working SMs?? i mean a downtime?
i will be thankful if someone help.

take cares

Once you add the relevant Entity and SMGR config and don't forget to set the trust password. From the SM CLI there's a utility that prompts you for a few bits of information, which includes the SMGR IP. You shouldn't have to do the init stuff if it's a new SM. At least that's what I recall.

It was showing down and security IP was also not reachable, i used initTM and initDRS, it is showing up now but i am getting a strange error now while adding new user in SMGR. I get BI_1090, some synchronization error. I tried many times but not able to add a new user in SMGR.
Kindly help.

what about from the SM dashboard.. all green? Maybe you need to check the replication group and do a repair.

Also, make sure you add the certificates in managed elements if you in fact used your own certs or a 3rd party.

Check replication and the ASM Dashboard. Like wpetilli said, what's the check marks looking like?

Dashboard is show status quite Ok..All green. Using Repair option also not worked. i guess i dont have to add Certs again in managed elements.
ANymor ehelp?

the SM dashboard may not show issues with certs. If you have trunks or other elements that rely on certs, I'd check those links. Also, is the new ASM added into the replication group? Don't believe that happens by default.

Are you on VMware? Which template did you download and use? You can also try to set the enrollment password in SMGR and on SM do initTM -f.

We are on VMware, newly added SM status shows quite OK, the SYNC tab also shows green, all entity links are UP but still i am unable to add new user and get the same error.

I must be missing something, but what error are you referring to? The BI_1090? Are you adding a new user with presence? If so, add a user without presence and see what that does.

No, I am not using presence option, it is just a simple user without any extra feature. It is also showing some synchronization error with BI_1090 code.

I think you should open a SR and get the database fixed. To me, it looks as if it’s broken.

It is resolved, after resetting SMGR and using manually database synchronization in SMGR.
