Doing a standard deplotment (.msi) of a Visual Studio .Net (C++) application, I have been able to setup a deployment project.

I can delpoy my application onto another PC, but have to manually setup a shortcut.

So how o I create a shortcut and place my application in the Start list on the target PC.

I have been reading through the help, but still no luck.

I think I am looking for a step-by step guide,

anyone know where to find one?

There is a shell extension API. Use interface IShellLink.

Use CoCreateInstance with CLSID=CLSID_ShellLink.
To save shortcut, save it to desktop's directory by using IPersistFile.

Thanks for the info, but what I am trying to do is use the facilities of Visual Studio .Net, using a Setup project to deploy my application. This I have been able to do but having difficulty creating a shortcut to and entry into the Target PC's Start command option.

Visual Studio seems to give you this ability, its just how to use it.

The Setup project was created using the Deploymeny Wizzard for a .msi deployment.

I think my question is how to use the System File Editor in .Net to create shortcuts etc.

Sweep.
