I have an aging Windows 2000 DC that functions as the operations master, global catalog, FSMO, etc. that I would like to replace with a new server preloaded with Windows 2003. Does this require me to migrate to a 2003 domain at that time? If so, what steps should I take to migrate to the new domain?

Thanks,
cahelmster

You will need to do a forestprep on the 2000 server before you can promote the 2003 server, see MS for an howto. Then you can transfer the FSMO and global catalog and demote the 2000 server. I have done this before it went pretty smooth.

Good Luck,
