Adding new Address List in Exchange 2000

Hello everyone

I am trying to create a new Address List in Exchange 2000 System Manager. I create the new list - and modify the search fields so it only picks out certain users. So far so good - the search results show exactly the people I want to add to the list. But after I have OK'ed the search fields and then gone back into the the address list and clicked preview - there are no results!

So while setting up the address list the search exactly finds the required personell - but once the list is OK'ed and I then click the preview button - there are no people in the list.

Is this a known bug - or am I making a simple mistake?!!

Any help would be great...

What is the actual end result that you want to achieve ?

Paul

I want to create an Address List of certain contacts that is viewable in Outlook.

Aha.

I normally create a new Distribution Group in Active directory (ADUC). Pretty much the same process as you describe above, create the group, add members. (Open ADUC, expand domain, right click users, select new then group, follow the wizard).

If you want the DG to contain members external to your organisation, you will need to create them as contacts in ADUC, before making them members of your DG. (same process as above)

Ta Paulha...

Would your method not create a distribution list though, and therefore would email everyone in the dist list at the same time. I need to be able to email individulas as well as everyone at once...

Er yes, if your users send email to the DL, everybody in the DL will receive it.

I think I may have misunderstood your problem.

Having re-read the thread, I think I may get what you are after : You have a list of users and contacts in visible in the Global Address List in outlook. You want to modify the GAL so only certain users and contacts appear on it ?

Cheers

Paul

Nope, I was wrong again ref understanding your problem.

Apologies for bad info

Well - sorta :) I have a list of contacts from a seperate organisation to ourselves (saved in AD as contacts) and I want to create a new address list and put these contacts into it.

Sorry for not being clear before - I'm having a bad day!
