Hello,

We have Backup Exec 10.0 for Win 2000 Server.
Yesterday we added about 5 tapes in the tape drive.
Veritas doesn't seem to be recognizing the tapes that have been added. We tried importing them but that wouldn't work. We created an inventory job and it inventoried the 5 media tapes and it was successful, but it still doesn't seem to recogonize the new media.
Could it be because this media does not have a bar code?

If you have bar code reader then yes you will need bar codes.

Do they show up as bad media or unknow?

Steveot:

They show up as unknown.

Besides the barcode issue, it could be the way you inserted the media.

How did you insert the media?

With a tape library there are normally two ways to insert media.

1. Open the main door and put them in the slots by hand.

2. Right click on the slot, select IMPORT and insert the tape into the 'mailbox' door on the library.

I find that if I do it the first way, my media always appears UNKNOWN. If I do it the second way, it always works for me.
