How do I add a horizontal splitter and properly dock the controls on a windows form (net 1.1 Framework)? I can get a sample to work following the instructions in thread 796-1179939. But how do I add the splitter after the form is already built? The splitter control seems to be very picky about the order the controls are added to the form and the docking of all the controls.

1-Form
2-Add Panel1-Dock Bottom
3-click outside panel1 on the form (above the panel)
4-add your horizontal splitter
5-Add Panel2-Dock Filled

Run your program and try moving the splitter.

When I first started doing these, I used different colors for the panels so that I could see it work.

When you know it works, start adding your controls.

I hope this helps.

Thanks Ron. I was hoping there was a way to add the splitter after all the controls are already on the form.

You can right click and "Send to Back" or "Bring to Front" until the controls are in the correct order.

Thanks Sorwen. I thought I tried that, but will try again and be more careful with the controls.
