I have a new WinXPPro system with a NTFS formatted hard drive. I'd like to add a 40GB HD which is formatted FAT32. Will I encounter problems? If they can be overcome, how?

Thanks a lot.

No, XP can work with a mix of FAT16, FAT32 and NTFS disks.

The only real limitation is that the format routine native to XP cannot format a FAT32 disk to a partition larger than 32 Gig. If you want a single FAT32 partition (yours will work out to 37.6 Gig.) boot with a Win98SE boot diskette and use it to fdisk and format the drive before installing it under Disk Management under XP.
