Scenario is a small company with small LAN, W2K server is DC. We fixed up an older server, reinstalled W2K server, and are ready to go.

Goal: Older server to continuously replicate everything on DC in case DC server dies.

Is this the Additional DC scenario? Do we first tell #2 that it is the only one, installing AD, etc, then marry the two?

Thanks for the help.

DC in WIndows 2000 are not binding the machine forever (like in NT4). Anytime you can run dcpromo and put or remove the AD on that machine.
If you already have a DC (=an Ad defined) then you just have to specify during install that your server is just another domain ontroller for that domain. Gia Betiu
