Good Morning,

In our company we have 2 Definity prologix's, one is R8 and the other is R9. We have recently moved our company and now both PBX's are in the same bldg. We now are working solely off of the R9 box. I have a DS1 card from the R8 box and am trying to put it in the R9 box and I am having difficulties. The PBX recognizes the pack and the TN, but it is not allowing me to add ports on a new trunk group? I get the message "Must use administered DS1 or UDS1 circuit pack". Do I have to have Lucent approve or turn on somekind of feature to accept this card?

Ohh the same with PRI, do I have to pay to have the PRI/ISDN feature turned on?

Thanks!
Mike

You need to use "Add DS1 xxXxx" (x=board location). Once you've done that, you'll then want to "Add sig #" if you're going to use PRI, skip for straight T1. Then you can "Add trunk" and add your members there.

Yes, the PRI feature is a cost feature you have to purchase for the older systems. You can see if it's on under the "Disp sys cust

Great!!! Adding the DS1 worked. I looked on disp sys cust and noticed ISDN-PRI is set to n. Is that where I have to give Lucent my right arm in order to have that changed to y?

I have a G3siV6 and wanted it added but was told I would have to upgrade in order to get PRI. Big $$.
Oh Wait $$$$$.

Actuall you're only half correct, it's your right arm, left arm, 1st born child, 2nd step child, 3rd removed cousin and an eye.

If you're interested in determing the cost, have a BP set you up with a quote.

Tina, sometimes the cost of an upgrade can be expensive. Look for lowering your per minute cost and the Return of Investment (ROI) could be within a year. T1's can be half the cost of copper trunks and sometimes CLEC's have equipement for service plans. This is where they subsidize the cost of the upgrade if you give them a contract for a specified amount of time.

In the future everything will work...
