Adding a 2nd DSL modem 1

I have DSL (Verizon) and use a Westell Model 6100 modem with a Belkin wireless router. It would be easier to add a 2nd DSL modem and access via the phone line for some remote rooms rather than run a CAT 5 cable.

How feasible is this? What are the pitfalls?

What do you mean "remote rooms"? Is this for residential? If it is for commerial, get a cabling company in and wire up the remote rooms, or at least get one cable to somewhere near the remote rooms so you can place a 2 wireless router there.

Most wireless routers will also allow a limited number of wired connections. If you get one CAT5 to the other area, you can use that to tie the two together.

I am fairly confident that you can not place a 2nd DSL modem on a DSL circuit that already has a modem. You would need to get a whole second DSL circuit on another phone line, send that phone line to a "remote room", and place a second wireless router on it.

the way dsl worked a few years back when i installed it, you didn't have that option. the 1st place a number appeared we put a filter.. one line out for voice service, the other for the cat 5 side of the dsl.. i have my home wired cat 5, but went the wireless route about a year ago. just a lot eaiser to not have a hard line back to the wall, helps big times on my laptop.. i have 4 pc's on that network and it works great without a second dsl modem.. what wireless service do you use?
