I am setting up a used Option 11 release 21.35. So far we have been able to get a second cabinet working (watch out for the forth coming but), BUT when we connect the 3rd weirdness starts.

When connected and powered up I get
XMI002 XFIR 3
and I think that is what I am supposed to receive (correct me if I am wrong).

And now for the weirdness -

For example when I insert a digital line card in cabinet 3 slot 6 or loop 26 I get
XMI002 6 XDLC
this is making me think that I have a schizophrenic Option 11. When I STAT 26 it responds saying that anything programed is DSBL. I ENLC and the it responds as if it is working correctly on the terminal, but the red light stays lit and a connected phone does not work.

I have tried my working second cabinet as the 3rd and I get similar results and my 3rd works fine as a second.

Is there a setting that I need to change to get a 3rd cabinet to work? Is my Option 11 show signs of schizophrenia? Is there medication (either for me or it)? Is there a way to get the 3rd cabinet working?

Thanks guys for all your assistance to the community and me!
Barry

Thats correct, you have to program a set on that loop for it to become active.

I did. I have a 500 set programed on 22 0. STATing a card/loop that has nothing programed with this release it responds CARD UNEQ

you have an 11E, what parts are you using? I assume you have the fiber exp package?

so you have the MFI and the EMI units that the fiber connects to? What CPU card, the NTBK45?

Yes I have 1 MFI and 2 EMIs and working fiber (there is a long story there) and yes the CPU is NTBK45.

at this point I would think you have a bad CPU card? I cant remember any software constraints, you simply install it, run the fiber and it is supposed to work

Are you sure that you have an Option 11E and not an 11C?

The 11C had specific cabinets for main and expansion.

No I am not sure I was told that it is an 11E. How do I find out for sure which it is?

Inside the cabinet on the bottom left side closest to the power supply there should be a sticker with a part number and description on it.

In the 11E all the cabinets are identical, so the part numbers should be the same.

My main cabinet is NTAK11, cabinet 2 is NTAK12 and cabinet 3 is NTAK11. When I switch cabinet 2 and 3 (NTAK11 and NTAK12 expansion 2 still will not work). I do have a 3rd NTAK11 I am trying to use it (it got a little bent in shipping).

Anyhow I Googled NTAK11 and it looks like its an 11C.

Sorry for the confusion, but the 11E is the older model option 11, the 11C is the newer of the 2.

The NTAK12 is the older expansion cabinet. In an 11C you should be using all NTAK11 cabinets (I believe).

OK - I just connected all 3 NTAK11 cabinets and the 3rd said it was the 3rd then did the schizo thing.

NTAK12 has slot labeling indicating that it can be 2nd or 3rd. Also one of the NTAK11 has slot labeling indicating it could be 1, 2 or 3.

change the cpu card on your 11E

Firefighter, you do have an 11E, the book says the 11 cabinet on the main and the 12 cabinets on the fiber. 3 cabinets total.... allenmac is just confusing you at this point.....
