I've recently purchased a server with Windows 2003 Server pre-installed, and I simply want to add that server to my existing NT4 domain. While it's visible on my network, the new server seems to exist only as a "workstation," rather than being treated as a server by the domain.

Why is that, and what do I need to do to rectify the situation?

Thanks in advance.

What functionality are you missing by having the server be seen as a workstation? IIR, most of the management options are the same. Using NT4-based tools to manage a 2K3 server isn't a great idea anyway. I would just install VNC or turn on admin-mode terminal services to admin the new server.

Is the new server also a WINS client?
