When I double click Add/Remove Software under control panel, I am unable to bring up the list of programs installed on the system. It seems to be ignoring my click for that that specific function. It works fine when I double click Add/Remove Hardware. Any idea why this could be happening and how to resolve it.

Thanks,

Jay

Maybe a policy.. Are you on a network? Matt Wray

Try launching %systemroot%\system32\appwiz.cpl and see if you get the same result. Kevin Mattson

I tried launding the %sytemroot%\system32\appwiz.cpl...but I still have the same results, and I am on a network, however...it was working fine before so I don't think its a policy issue.

Try reinstalling internet explorer. I ran into that problem previously and I went ahead and reinstalled IE and it worked.

Doesnt hurt to try!

Try this. Click start--run--and then type CMD. At the prompt type the following and press enter to re-register the appwiz.cpl file and then see if it works:

REGSVR32 APPWIZ.CPL

Could you extract a new appwiz.cpl file? Does anyone know if installed programs will still show up in add/remove if you do that? I've never done it so i'm not sure.

An alternative is to use a program like Add/Remove Plus! 2002:
