When trying to remove a program from the control panel, I get a message that "Another installation is already in progress. Complete that installation before proceeding with this install". I am only trying to remove a program. I noticed this problem after installing both Paint Shop Pro 7 and Paperport on my Windows 2000 O/S.

Thanks,
Donna

First of all, what are the permissions of the profile you installed to? Are you trying to uninstall from the same profile? If you installed the software to one profile, and then rebooted into another without permissions to finish the install, it may be hung up. If this is the case, boot back into the profile you installed in, or one with admin rights. If I'm totally off base as far as the circumstances, you might try something as simple as updating Windows installer....sounds nutty, but its worked for me once before in a situation like this.

It could also have been a bad install or somone del a file you need to correctly unistall. You can del the folders for the program and do a search in the regisrty for the program you want to get rid of. Del the keys dealing with it and it should be removed from the add remove panel.

I think xjlkx is right ..
But , there may be also som software wants to complete the installation , but it can't continue like office or assesant for any other software.
check the start up folder in your programs menu ,, or check the Run once Registry key ..

I had the same problem, right-down to 'PSP 7'.

Make sure theirs listing of the 2 programs in 'Add/Remove' then you'll need to move to the 'Registary'. Useing 'Regedit', NOT 'Regedit32' enter the Reg, Find, the Program names, at all entaries of the programs Delete them.
'F3' will go to the next listing of the program if 'pressed'.

When Reg. has a 'clean bill' of the program,... then reboot and do your reinstall.

BACK-UP THE REG. BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING IN IT !!!!!
