Greetings to all
I have recently discovered after trying to open notepad with no success that the Add/Remove windows components seems to be inoperative. I get the error message as follows:
"Setup was unable to open information file iis.inf
Contact your System Administrator.
The specific error code is 0x2 at line 2088 999411"
Its a stand alone xp pro machine with sp2 and all available updates at this point. Apart from installing office xp with front page recently the system is relatively unchanged, and am unsure whether this had any connection to the problem.

If anyone has a notion or suggestion regarding the repair option of the above I would be most grateful.

Thanks

Steve

Anything in your event logs? Try: Start > Run > sfc /scannow
It will probably prompt you for the OS cd.

Let us know your results!

Hi All,
My thanks to Linney, tried the fixes but no luck there.
I even uninstalled the office suite to see if any change but none present.
I ran the sfc /scannow command, and it requested the xp cd as you predicted. Finished and nothing further.
I checked the event logs and nothing obvious was present.
May have to dig out the first build image and update same!
My thanks to you both

Steve
