Hi

Where do i set the permissions to allow someone to add new distribution lists to the global address list in exchange 2000 using outlook as the client.

I'm using
windows 2000 advanced server
exchange 2000

Hope somebody can help soon :-)

The person who needs to add the distribution groups must use the AD Users and Computers snap-in. In order for a user to do this, the user must be on either a Windows 2000 or XP machine with the adminpak installed. For every address list you have in Exchange, I would put all of those contacts and distribution groups in an OU that is created for that single purpose. From this point, I would delegate control of the OU to the user and give them rights to add groups to the OU.

For example, if you have an Address List called Sales Reps in Exchange, then create an OU in Active Directory called Sales Reps, and keep all contacts and distribution lists for that Address List in this OU. From this point all you have to do is delegate the appropriate permissions to the OU for the user who needs them.

Hope this helps,
Chris

What i want to is add a new distribution list to the global address list at the top level. Where do i set the permissions to allow someone to do this.

I should be able to add a distribution list using outlook.
