no real trick as far as software is concerned. Make sure it is the same ram type (speed and pins). you might run a "prntdiag -v" before and after to make sure the system sees the new sticks.
When you do order for RAM, i guess you would need to give info. about the server h/w, ie. whether it is an enterprise box or ultra..etc., hence compatibility won't be a prob. you will get the right stuff.
Do a prtconf |grep Mem to get the current memory value. Adding RAM is just as usual as on any PC. Crosscheck with prtconf again to make sure it's recognized.
