Hi,

We currently have two domains within the same forest, which reflect geographical separation, one is 2k and ours is 2k3. In our domain we have Exchange 2003, and we currently have users from the other domain who need to have an Exchange mailbox.

I used AD to connect to the other domain, and used "Exchange tasks" to create a mailbox; however, it errors out saying that I don't have access rights to complete the operation!

Must I be enterprise admin? Or do I just need those rights delegated to the Administrator of our domain?

Also, does it matter that the Windows 2k domain does not have Exchange system manager on their AD server? Will they be able to delegate control of creating Exchange mailboxes??

Ergh..

Thanks all!

Chris

Sorry,

Just figured it out. I tried some stuff with our Forest Admin, and all I needed was delegated control over the "Users" objects in his AD.

After that the Exchange tasks wizard worked fine from my domain.

Need more help!!

I was able to reconnect the mailbox to a user in our other domain (in same forest, tho), but now they are having trouble connecting to the Exchange server via Outlook.

They recieve a "The name cannot be matched to a name in the address list" message when trying to CHECK NAME when adding the Exchange server.
*** Checking the Global Address List through Outlook shows those "other domain" users aren't there!

Outlook Web Access works fine with their user name and password. So the mailbox is connected; also shows up in the ESM.

I need to get these guys on the A.L. ASAP so I can get them on Exchange.

Thanks,

Chris
