add duplicate word to spellcheck?

Hi, I need to have the word "Bora Bora" always ignored (accepted) by Microsoft Word and other Office applications. It always catches the 2nd Bora as a "duplicated word" and flags it during a spellcheck. Anyone know of a way to prevent this? I've tried adding Bora, Bora Bora, "Bora Bora" and Bora^Bora to the custom.dic file but that doesn't work. Please help. Thanks.

There may be a better way to do this, but what about adding Bora Bora in AutoCorrect, using a required space. Since you have already added Bora Bora to the dictionary, when you type Bora Bora, using a regular space, it will automatically convert it to Bora Bora with a required space. Now the spell check will not question it.

click Tools-AutoCorrect
Make sure Replace text as you type is checked
Type in Replace: window Bora(space)Bora
Type in With: window Bora(CTRL+SHIFT+space)Bora
click Add then OK

Dcompto....that worked great!! Thanks for the great idea. I had looked into the Auto Correct idea, but I did not (and really still do not) understand what a "required space" is??

I simply tried replacing Bora Bora with Bora Bora (no required space), but that didn't work. Anyway, using the required space worked perfectly!! Thanks very much for your help.

Glad it worked for you! Sorry, I reverted to WordPerfect lingo when I said, "a required space". In Word, it's called a "nonbreaking space", and when used between two words such as "Bora Bora", Word treats them as only one word. They will not split (one at the end of a line and one at the beginning of the next line) and spell check will not read them as two words.

Use a nonbreaking space in instances such as:
Mrs._Iva Lotta
John_Q. Public
REG_12345678
Eq._(4)
5_feet
35_minutes
so they will always stay together in pagination.

The same is true with nonbreaking hyphen (CTRL+SHIFT+hyphen):
CIV-99-1234

Excellent suggestion by dcompto.

A very slight clarification. When words are separated by non breaking spaces, Word still spell-checks each individual word (so Bora needs to be in the dictionary) but it doesn't treat them as duplicated words.

Thanks for the clarification and help to understand. That non-breaking space idea makes sense, but I was unaware.

Yes, I had "Bora" in the dictionary, so it is accepted just fine, and now Spellcheck just glides right by Bora Bora
