add a gradient

How do I add a gradient to my document. In color

I would suspect that the gradient tool and palette would come in handy here. But I could be dead wrong.

1. Click on the rectangle tool
2. Click and drag to make a rectangle
3. Click the "fill" box
4. Click "apply color"
5. Click the gradient tool
6. Click and drag across your box

Ta da! A gradient! Now, there is a lot more to know about gradients than just this, but this should get you going...
