Is there any way to utilize a 2420 on a G3R V9 and get button functionality ? We have no options to add 24XX sets, but have options to add 64XX sets

Sure, upgrade your switch to R10 or CM1, which is where 24XX support first appeared (can't remember which one) :) of course that's not an option any longer, you would have to at a minimum upgrade to an S8720/S8730 with CM4 or CM5. You might be able to get something on the secondary market, but AVAYA is no longer selling upgrades for the older CSI/SI/R platforms.

There is no way to get that release switch to understand 2400 series phones, sorry.

Actually it should work as an Alias, define the 2420 as an 8434d under "cha alias sta". Use only the first 24 buttons on the "34" programming and blank all of the softkeys; the drawback is you have to use the 2420's button labeling feature to custom define each individual button on each of the 3 pages on the 2420 set. The set will not show any definitions for buttons, and probably shows a "?" under "connected set type" on status station. I have done this on a G3siV6 even, stupid, a lot of extra work, for a phone people think is cute!
