I am doing trying to restore win2003 ent server on the same machine (just for testing). This machine had the AD, DNS and DHCP. Everything had been backed up using windows backup.
Now, after reintsllaing win2003 ent server on the same machine. I ran dcpromo, installed dns and dhcp. After this I went into directory services restore mode and restored only the system state from backup. Now my question is would it have restored the dns settings and other server settings like IIS as well.
Or should I have to restore them separately for DNS, IIS projects, etc.

Also, it had decided to install AD on a separate "D" drive. Would windows backup backed it up as usual. And would it want another D drive on the destination machine to restore it to.

Please advise.
Thanks.

To extend this question frther,
Would restortaion of the entire C drive instaead of jus the system state restore all of the dns and iis settings. Since DNS settings are ultimately saved as a folder in system 32 and likewise for iis.
Thanks.
