We have been having problems with programming autodial and abbreviated dial buttons on 64XX sets. Some times the program button lets us program a number and sometimes we have to use the Program access code. I've checked the programming on the phone and everything is correct. The Program access code is the same as it has been for years. We first noticed the problem on the 64XX sets and now I cannot get it to work on my 8434DX. Dial the program access code and all you get is dial tone and it will not accept any other or buttons press. This does not matter if you are trying to program a feature button or a soft key.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Programming Autodials and programming abbreviated dials are two separate processes. Right?

Autodial you have to have the button programmed for autodial, and an abr-prog button on the phone. Then just press the program button and follow on screen prompts.

Abbreviated dial gets alot more conveluted and I dont see why anyone would want an abbreviated dial when you could do an autodial? (except you can put the abrv's on soft buttons)

Are you having an issue with auto or abbreviated dial?

The issue is with the Program Feature Access Code or program button not working.

Autodial buttons cannot be programmed as softkeys but abbreviated dial buttons can. We use autodial on the feature buttons but put abbreviated dial in the softkeys if the user wants for speed dial capabilities. If the program button or access code works correctly you can put a speed dial number on the abbreviated dial button in the softkeys and give it a 5-character label. But neither the program button or access code works correctly in these instances.
