AD: Folder list takes long time to display

Hi there,

I run a Win 2003 SBS server as an AD PDC. Connecting a Win XP Pro client is ok, but it takes a long time for the client to display the folder list, e.g. when trying to save a Word doc in L:\data (data is a share on the server and i "net use" them in login script).

If I run the client in stand-alone mode and "net use" manually, it works faster.

What is the solution?
(Possibly DNS setting? Or office problem?)

Thanks in advance,
mpegjunkie

DNS is most likely the cause. Verify your clients are set up with your SBS server as their only DNS. The server should be configured on its NIC with just itself and in the DNS snap in your ISP DNS should be configured ont he forwarders tab. Make sure your DNCP isn't pushing out ISP DNS in its scope options.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Regards,

Mark
