hi-
i know this first one is an old problem, but i haven't found the cause or a solution.
we use crystal reports 7 and the activex viewer. our workstations run the gamut from win95 to xp. all are using the latest IE browser. all machines accept the activex viewer and display reports. but after a while, some machines - and it's always the same ones - stop displaying reports. we have a win95 machine, a win2000 machine, and an XP box whose viewer object consistently quits working after a few days/weeks. some of the users think it occurs after they turn the machine off and turn it back on. some are in the habit of leaving them on 24/7 just because of this.
my (rather repugnant) workaround is to remove the object and edit seagate/crviewer out of the registry. once i do that, i can download a new viewer and these users are good for a while.
does anyone know the cause or have any suggestions? the crystal reports activex viewer troublshooting guide doesn't really address this.
another problem: our reports which use subreports now suddenly require a password for said subreports. what's causing that?
