I have developed an ActiveX control and made an internet package (CAB), which generated an HTML file with the object referenced in it and also a CAB file and a support folder. I used Package Wizard from VB6.

It works on the development machine, but wen the HTML file is opened over a LAN, the ActiveX control appears a small square (doesn't show). It seems to install OK, the browser asks if I want to download and install the CAB I click OK and off it goes. But no control shows.

It worked the first time, but never since. I'm really stuck.

Hi there

I had the same problem. Basically what (I think) has happened is that because it installed OK the first time, the system sees the control as being already installed and does not try to install it again.

Close all IE windows that are open. Open up your Windows Explorer and go to WINT/Downloaded Program Files. Right click your control and click Remove. Close Explorer and reopen your installation package.

The control should (hopefully) install correctly.

Let me know if you come right.

Hi Craftor.

Unfortunately I've forgotten. It was so long ago. Now my ActiveXs work fine on IE. It's ActiveX Documents that are concerning me now.
