ActiveX Document DLL

I've read a couple of posts about transferring data into a document DLL but I've not understood it yet. Could someone explain a way to have variables come into an activex document dll. Reason being i need a transaction at verisign to complete before the document dll runs and it should gather the username/password combo from outside so that the person doing the transaction doesn't have to log in multiple times.
