When browsing some most internet sites, i get a message that says.

"This page provides potentially unsafe information to an activeX control. Your current security settings prohibit running controlls in this manner. as a result, this page may not display correctly."

What, exactly does ActiveX controll do? and is there a way to stop this message coming up without lowering my security settings?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

ActiveX controls have been a path that malicious hackers use to penetrate your computer without you knowing it. Fortunately, not all ActiveX controls are harmful AND the Internet Explorer browser is the only browser that recognizes ActiveX controls.

As far as making the message go away without lowering your security, I don't think that's possible without changing browsers. There's a reason why you're getting that notification!

Another fortunate thing is that there are relatively few web sites that utilize ActiveX controls because it limits the web page to only those who use the IE browser.

There's always a better way. The fun is trying to find it!
