Hi everyone,

Am I right to assume that VFP-installshield limited edition handles the registration of activex controls contained in merge modules?

I have got a distribution package out for an application. The application installs correctly on every machine except one (As chance would have it, it is also the workstation that is located the farthest from my office). I get OLE control not registered error on that specific machine.

I am down to two guesses:

1) Installshield does not register the control and I was lucky on all previous installation becouse the Treeview control was already installed or

2) Treeview control was already on the target machine but was corrupted thus useless.

Any ideas anyone???

Have you specified that the Treeview OCX be "self-registered" in InstallShield? Right-mouse on the OCX (in installshield) once its been copied to the destination folder, and go to the properties->Advance and change it to self-registration.

Hi Mike,

I was using the Object/merge module option of VFP-IS which does not seem to allow for right clicking on the individual files. Am i doing things wrong (would not be the first time!).

It is unclear in which module the Treeview control is (I see 6 possible merge modules), so in order to do a "proper" install, without having to travel back to the client, just add the MSCOMctl.OCX to your InstallShield and set it to self-register, and your clients will never see the difference.
