Hi

I am trying to use an ACTIVEX component to get 3D round and oval buttons on my system. One supplier has been trying hard to get their product to work in Visual Fox and they now have a version which allows for a transparent container. However there are still 2 major problems and as I am still a novice with VFP I don't know if there is something I should be doing or whether it is an inherent fault with the ACTIVEX component.

The first is the time that is takes to load the buttons when a form is activated, this gives a bad flicker effect when there are several buttons on the screen.

The second is the fact that the buttons do not work, i.e. CLICK method ignored, if they are used in forms that are not set up with ShowWindow set to AS TOP LEVEL FORM.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Malcolm,
1. I have a feeling that the development environment you have and the clients working environment are at two different versions of VFP.. I mean different SPn. TRy to build the executable and run the setup again in the clients computer. This could solve the problem. If you are developing in VFP6, SP3.. you should have in the clients unit also VFP6, SP# and not VFP6 without service packs or earlier service packs. The best way is rebuild the setup and do a redeployment of the software. I have seen such screen flickering under similar circumstances which vanished when I reset.

2. If above is not the reason, probably, the ACTIVEX is having some problem.. which I cannot comment.

Hope this helps you :) ramani :-9
