Hi

I am trying to get my Mobile 5.0 device to sync wirelessly.

It works perfectly when connected by USB. I can connect to my OWA server from IE (via HTTPS) but when I try ActiveSync wirelessly it just sits on Synronzing indefinatley.

Any one have any ideas ?

An issue I had is it's not obvious how you configure the device settings for you mobile phone company. I followed a guide off the web for mine but every time I USB ActiveSync it fills in my company proxy server (presumably picks it up from IE settings) so next time I try and use the GPRS Internet connection it just stays ages at Synching and eventually times out. Not sure if that's what you're getting to?

Other than that the only issue I had was with certificates but you get errors returned quickly with that (unless you did the reg hack on the device to stop cert checking but that actually still doesn't let you connect it just stops the error...)

Hi

Thanks for the response. I don't think it's a certificate issue as I've already update my certificate to be one issued from a root authority that is listed on my phone.

Where abouts, on the phone, are the proxy server settings ? This sounds like it could be the problem.

Cheers

andrew

The proxy setting (at least on my QTek 9100) are under...

Start/Settings/Connections tab/Connections/My Work Network/Manage Existing Connections/Proxy Settings Tab/Proxy Server

Now for my network provider the proxy should be blank (even though the box apparently should be ticked to use a proxy server)but when I connect over USB to my work PC that Proxy server field gets filled in with my work PC proxy setting which is obviously invalid when I try to use the GPRS Internet connection (which wireless activesync will do) so activesync hangs for ages trying to connect using that proxy. If I just delete the proxy IP address and try synching again it works straight away.

I don't think all the settings are correct on my phone but nothing logical worked so I just followed a guide I found and those settings worked so I've stuck with them. Presumably if it's configured correctly the proxy wouldn't keep getting updated so you may not have this issue.

Thanks for the advice .... my 9100 isn't showing the Proxy Settings Tab .... obviously making it hard to turn off :-(

time for some more google search to try and find my missing proxy settings :)

thanks again.

found them ... just me being useless ;-) .... not fixed my problem though.

Thanks for helping though.

Bummer :( yeah as soon as I got my GPRS working right and certificates sorted it started to work - I just had a nightmare getting GPRS working in the first place.

You may also want to check out the logs ActiveSync creates, if you go into File Explorer/ActiveSync folder you should see some logs, they may give you a clue as to what it's doing whilst stuck synching.

Thanks for that .... there does seem to be a difference in the contents of the log file between a wired connected and wireless ... now I just need to work out what the log files mean :)

Thanks for pointing me towards those.

I think (hope0 I have a solution.

I finally ended up calling my phone service provider ... and they pointed out that the Push Email Server hasn't been anabled by them on my SIM !!! Even though this is a phone & sim provided by them to test this facility ...

I'm justing waiting on them to confirm the service has been enabled. I'll let you know what happens.

Tried again this morning and all it working perfectly.

If it helps anybody else then the error code I was receiving on my phone was 0x80072ee4
