We're rolling out new mobile phones that use Activsync to synchronize with our Exchange 2003 server. If a user changes their network password (on their PC), the phone stops sending/receiving mail without prompting the user to put in their new password, or even giving them a connection error. If the user tries to send mail from the phone, then they get get a connection error.

The only way around it is if the user knows to go into the activesync settings on the phone and enter the new password.

Is there a way around this? Maybe another authentication method that doesn't require their domain logon?

Nope. Just educate your users that when they change their password they need to remember to do so on the PocketPC or SmartPhone as well.

This is no different than a user having to type the password at a workstation. If you have saved credentials then they need to be updated manually.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark
