Active Perl and AnyEdit

I down loaded and installed Active Perl per directions.I created a sub-folder under perl called perl_source and saved some files there In a command window I cd to perl but perl can not find the source file, even when I fully qualify it. i.e., perl c:\perl\Perl_source\PrintMenu.pl

I also downloaded AnyEdit and I can load and see the perl_source files but can not print to a desk jet or laserjet. I have not set any drivers under DOS (or whatever it is under XP Pro) and that may explain the printing problem, but I can't figure out why perl can not find a file in one of it's sub-folders.

If you simply type the name of the perl file fully qualified or not, Windows will give you an error unless the .pl extension has been associated with the perl interpreter.

To associate a file extension with a particular executable or program, open up windows explorer (I assume win XP Pro) by pressing the 'windows key' on your keyboard and the 'e' key. Go to 'tools' and 'options'. Select the 'file types' tab, you can then create a file extension by going to the 'add' button and assign a particular program to that file extesnion, then whenever you run a perl program it will automatically asume it's a perl prog and use the perl interpreter.

If you still have problems then maybe simply try uninstalling and reinstalling, Active Perl doesn't really require and config changes so the binary version should work from the word go.

With regards to your AnyEdit problem, I've had no experience with it so can't really help you there. If it's a text editor you're after with multi programming language facilities then try downloading UltraEdit-32.
