Active directory ?

If you upgrade all NT domaion controllers to 2000 do you have to install Active Directory at the same time or can you opt not to and install it later ?

You won't need to implement AD until you convert your domain to native mode, and you don't have to do that immediately. However: leave 1 NT4 bdc alone until you have implemented AD, in case your 2000 upgrade falls through and you need to fall back to your NT4 domain structure. Also, it would be far better to plan your AD implementation (it's really not as difficult as it sounds) and roll out AD with your 2000 upgrades.
