Does Active directory/File Replication work fine accross a VPN tunnel?

I need to setup a site-to-site vpn between two of my sites. Both sites have a DC and I need to make sure they will communicate accross a vpn.

Works fine with hardware-based VPN, trusts and such...should work fine with server VPN too, but I haven't done this.
